On Thursday evening, the police arrested a 47-year-old man from Alphen aan den Rijn for making a false bomb threat at the Binnenhof in The Hague. Because of the report, part of the Binnenhof was evacuated on Thursday afternoon and the buildings of the House of Representatives were closed for some time.

The man is said to have called the police shortly after 5 p.m. and said that there would be a bomb at the Binnenhof. The police rushed to evacuate the immediate vicinity of the Binnenhof.

The buildings of the House of Representatives were not evacuated. Those present, including scouts Tamara van Ark and Wouter Koolmees, had to stay in the buildings and the entrances were closed.
