Four young people, including a 14-year-old boy, were arrested at Hasselt station on Sunday afternoon. The four are suspected of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl. “She has been taken care of in the Care Center after Sexual Violence in Genk and is receiving specialized care,” Limburg public prosecutor’s office spokesman Pieter Strauven says about the girl. “The 15-year-old girl was allegedly sexually touched. The police arrested four young men aged 14, 19, 21 and 28 on the spot. Further investigation must reveal who exactly did what.”
The suspects have been transferred to a police cell and will be interrogated in the police station.
The Limburg Capital Region police zone received a report of an incident near Hasselt station on Sunday afternoon around 4 p.m. Several police teams responded to Spoorwegstraat, at the rear entrance of the station. “It concerns the suspected violation of sexual integrity, which used to be the crime of ‘indecent assault’,” Strauven explains.
