The Netherlands
The police in Amsterdam arrested a man in a home on Friday evening who threatened PVV leader Geert Wilders in a message on X.
A man from Amsterdam is in custody for online threats against right-wing politician Geert Wilders (PVV), the great victor of the Dutch elections in November 2023. The arrest was ordered by the public prosecutor, reports a spokeswoman for the Dutch Police.
According to the police, it was a red-handed situation. The arrest was said to have been carried out in collaboration with the Threatened Politicians Team of the police unit in The Hague. The man is in custody and is being interrogated. He will be arraigned on Monday.
Outlaw
Wilders himself thanked the police for their quick response on Sunday on X, the former Twitter. “Many thanks to the Amsterdam police unit who arrested a person in a home this weekend in connection with a threat to kill me. Thanks to the team of threatened politicians from the The Hague police that I was able to sign the report quickly. Without the police I would be an outlaw.”
