A man was injured in a dispute in Hamburg’s Neustadt on Tuesday afternoon after apparently several shots. As a police spokeswoman confirmed to t-online, the police were on duty with a large contingent in the Große Theaterstraße on the Binnenalster. An initial suspect is now apparently back on the loose.
The police now know the first details of the argument in front of the luxury hotel “Four Seasons”. According to initial findings, several men met there and got into an argument. The alleged main perpetrator is said to have shot the ground several times with a gun. A 35-year-old man sustained a leg injury.

The attackers did not let go of the man who was shot, but punched and kicked him until he fell to the ground. He is also believed to have sustained a head injury. The four to five perpetrators then fled, reports the police. According to the police, the alleged main perpetrator is known to the injured party.
The police were alerted around 5:30 p.m. The immediately initiated search with more than twenty patrol cars and a police helicopter led the emergency services to a suspect who was temporarily arrested. However, this person was released a little later because the suspicion was not substantiated.
Police are looking for witnesses to the use of firearms in Hamburg
At no point was there any danger to life for the injured person, he was taken to the hospital in an ambulance. The State Criminal Police Office took over the investigation.

According to the “Hamburger Abendblatt”, the man had previously behaved conspicuously and showed similarities to a person involved in the crime. However, this man was released.
The area around the crime scene was cordoned off by police officers in the evening. Pedestrians were therefore not allowed to enter the street Neuer Jungfernstieg. The “Fairmont Vier Jahreszeiten” hotel in Hamburg’s Neustadt is a five-star hotel and one of the most exclusive accommodations in the Hanseatic city.
