There was an explosion in a house entrance in Gröpelingen this morning. The front door was destroyed. People were also injured by the glass splinters.

One or more unknown persons detonated an explosive in a terraced house in Bremen-Gröpelingen. The residents were largely uninjured in the explosion, police said. Two of them suffered minor injuries from broken glass when leaving the house, but no medical treatment was necessary.

The criminal police assume a crime has been committed and are investigating the cause of an explosive explosion.

We assume an arson, an explosive device.

Nils Matthiesen, spokesman for the Bremen police

How this came about is still unclear. “We already have some leads that we are following up on, but the investigation is ongoing,” said Matthiesen. There is currently no evidence of a connection to organized crime or gangs.

Parts of the doors were thrown across the street

Residents were startled by the explosion early on Wednesday morning and alerted the emergency services. When the police arrived, the residents of the affected small apartment building were already standing on the street. The front door, two apartment doors and the ceiling in the entrance area were damaged. Parts of destroyed doors were thrown onto the sidewalk on the opposite side of the street.

Editor’s note: The police initially spoke of one person being injured, but have now increased the number to two. The text has been adjusted accordingly.
