The Police have arrested two lorry drivers following the fatal accident yesterday morning on the A4 near Woensdrecht. Two occupants of a passenger car, a 45-year-old woman and a 34-year-old man from Oud-Beijerland, were killed.

The third person who lived in the car, a 19-year-old man, was injured in the accident. He was taken to the hospital.

It is not yet clear what exactly happened yesterday morning around 8:15 am on the highway. The police said that two truck drivers were taken to the station after the accident.

bee Omroep Brabant told the police that they had to report there. In one press release the police write that the two are considered suspects and have been arrested under Article 6 of the Road Traffic Act. In that article of law this refers to a “negligent traffic accident causing death or injury”.

Free again

Both drivers are now free again. According to the police, it is not necessary that they remain in custody longer for the follow-up investigation.

The investigation into how the accident happened is continuing and will take some time, according to the police. “Obviously we want to do this out of caution for the relatives,” a police spokesman said.

“We will help them with a family agent who will keep in touch with them. As soon as the investigation is finished, we will first discuss the results with the remaining relatives. Then we can share information.”
