Police Apprehend E-Scooter Driver Under the Influence of Drugs and Resisting Arrest

On Thursday afternoon, around 3.45 p.m., a patrol from the Hockenheim police station on “Am Sandbuckel” street noticed an e-scooter driver who did not have a valid insurance license plate. The police officers then checked the man.

In the course of the check, the suspicion that the driver was also under the influence of narcotics was confirmed.

A urine test confirmed the suspicion. The suspect was then to be taken to the Hockenheim police station to have his blood drawn. However, the man vehemently refused this by tearing himself away from the officers as he was being taken to the vehicle and trying to flee.

The officers on site were able to prevent this, but he kept trying to wriggle out of the police officers’ grips and break free. Placed in the vehicle, the man managed to stretch his feet out of the vehicle several times so that the door could not be closed. Ultimately, the scooter driver was able to be fixed on the back seat of the patrol car with considerable effort. By the time he got to the station, the man had calmed down. After the blood was drawn, he left the station. His scooter was confiscated after no valid insurance cover could be proven.

Investigations were initiated against the e-scooter driver for driving under the influence of drugs, violating the compulsory insurance law and resisting law enforcement officers.
