‘Police and AIVD had an infiltrator at the extreme right party NVU’ | NOW

The police and General Intelligence and Security Service (AIVD) had an infiltrator in the extreme right-wing party Dutch People’s Union (NVU) for 2.5 years. That writes NRC Tuesday evening. The newspaper spoke to Richard Prein, a close former employee of Constant Kusters, the leader of NCE.

Prein approached NRC earlier this year. He says he wants to clear his name. By passing on information, he would have helped protect public order.

Various sources confirm this NRC that Prein worked as an informant. He substantiated his story himself with WhatsApp messages with his contacts with the police.

Prein worked as an undercover officer from June 2017 to the end of 2019. He was ‘circle leader’ of the provincial department of the party in North Brabant. In 2018, members of NCE elected him ‘Activist of the year’. He organized extremist activities, while the police and AIVD supervised.

Prein provided the police and the AIVD with insight into the relationship of the extreme right with the Forum for Democracy and talked about threatening confrontations between left and right activists. He also infiltrated the neo-Nazi party Racial Volunteer Force (RVF).

Anti-Israel demonstration called off after fuss

In September 2019, he organized an anti-Israel demonstration in The Hague, but it was canceled due to the commotion that arose. The demonstration was originally planned to take place together with the RVF.

NCE leader Kusters says in NRC that he already suspected that Prein was an undercover officer. However, evidence for this was lacking.

The police and AIVD paid Prein a total of approximately 3,000 euros for the information he passed on. He invested that money partly in supporting the party. The AIVD says to NRC that the law does not allow them to make any announcements about who they are talking to or not. The Rotterdam police also say to the newspaper that they are “extremely reluctant” to share information on the matter.
