Members of the Police and the Public Ministry carried out a mega operation during which they raided firearms distributors that have been associated to the unlawful trafficking of weapons that have been supplying the black market in Ecuador.
The coordinator of the Organized Crime Prosecutor’s Workplace, Jorge Chávez Cotrina, advised RPP that the proceedings carried out in Lima, Piura, Cajamarca and Tumbes led to the arrest of 17 folks concerned in an alleged arms trafficking community.

Based on Chávez Cotrina, the felony group imported weapons illegally and after registering them with the Nationwide Superintendency for the Management of Safety Companies, Weapons, Ammunition and Explosives for Civil Use (Sucamec), they reported them as misplaced or stolen after which distributed them on the black market.
The mega-operation had the technological assist of the USA as a result of the Prosecutor’s Workplace doesn’t have the required know-how to hold out the required experience.
