Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
A video of a member of the Presidential Guard (Paspampres) was involved in an argument with the police at the Daan Mogot isolation post, West Jakarta, viral on social media.
In the incident that occurred on Wednesday (7/7), the insulation officer forbade Paspampres members to pass and question their work as Paspampres.
“So what if you are Paspampres why?” asked one of the officers dressed in police clothes.
The officers at the blocking post also pushed the Paspampres members into a corner. The commotion only ended after the Paspampres member named Praka Izroi showed his Membership Card (KTA).
The Paspampres member was then released and was able to continue his journey.
But it seems that the event had a long tail. On Wednesday (7/7) night, about 50 people from Paspampres members visited the West Jakarta Police.
The Commander of the Presidential Security Forces, Major General TNI Agus Subiyanto said the arrival of his members to the West Jakarta Police was not without reason. Its members want to ascertain whether the police who had questioned the work of their subordinates had received a warning from their superiors.
“My members who came to the Resort Police wanted to make sure that the person who spoke in the video ‘Why are you Paspampres?’ has been warned by his superiors [atau belum], because it offends state institutions,” Agus said when contacted CNNIndonesia.com via text message.
Even so, Agus said he was still checking his members for the incident. West Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Ady Wibowo, he said, had also visited the Paspampres headquarters and apologized directly.
Meanwhile, Ady said that the problem had been resolved. Ady admitted that he had met and apologized directly to the Paspampres commander regarding the incident.
“I have also apologized directly to the Paspampres commander, the problem has been resolved and the TNI/Polri synergy is still protecting the country,” he said.
Even though it was claimed to have ended peacefully, the Polda Metro Jaya Propam continued to examine three members of the West Jakarta Metro Police regarding the incident.
“Three members we have examined so far. The Resmob (Polres Metro) is West Jakarta,” said Head of Propam Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Bhirawa.
Bhirawa said that his party would also ask for information from a number of witnesses to investigate the incident.
“Inspecting someone can’t be that short, we need we have to look at the evidence in the field, the witnesses, even if it’s just a disciplinary violation, yes. But the basis is we impose disciplinary sanctions because there are evidences and witnesses,” he said. .
