DOVER, Del. – Dover Police say a man is behind bars after he was found in possession of drugs and weapons during a traffic stop.

At approximately 1:50 a.m. Tuesday, officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation in the North DuPont Highway and Division Street area. When officers approached the vehicle, they detected a strong smell of marijuana and it was revealed that the driver, Brandon Sammons, 24, was driving with a suspended license.

A search of the vehicle was carried out, which led to the discovery of 700 grams of marijuana, a loaded 9mm pistol and a fixed blade knife in the center console.

Sammons was subsequently arrested and charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, two counts of carrying a concealed deadly weapon, possession with the intent to deliver marijuana, drug paraphernalia. drugs and traffic offenses.
