NEW YORK — A young man who was a construction worker died Friday in Manhattan after being hit by a truck and the case is being investigated as a fatal accident, police said.
The incident occurred around 8:30 a.m. Friday near the corner of First Avenue y Seventh Street in the East Village, according to authorities. Details about what happened were not immediately clear, but the 19-year-old worker was hit by the vehicle. He was declared dead at the scene.
The 42-year-old operator of the construction vehicle remained at the scene and no foul play was suspected. An investigation was underway by the New York Police Department’s Highway District Collision Investigation Team.
