Polestar’s First Android Smartphone: What to Expect and What Sets it Apart

Electric car manufacturers have sought to create products that are different and far from their vehicles. Polestar is now taking its first steps in this field and seems dedicated to also being a competitor in the Android universe. To this end, Polestar will launch its first Android smartphone in December.

It’s not news that Polestar wants to invest in the area of Android smartphones. The brand has plans for this, known since September, but now it has revealed a little more of what is coming soon. In addition to more details about its design, it also revealed that its official presentation will be in December.

The design of the Polestar smartphone was revealed in a video of the brand’s presentation and shows a device with flat frames and cameras stacked vertically on the back, something that many are already familiar with. This is reminiscent of the Meizu 20 series already revealed before.

Each camera ring has its focal length and aperture size present in its structure. You can see that it will have a 23mm equivalent main camera with f/1.9 aperture, a 70mm telephoto lens with f/2.0 aperture and a 15mm ultra-wide lens with f/2.4 aperture. On the front there is a perforated cutout for the selfie camera. The sides feature the Polestar brand, while the back features the company logo.

As a car manufacturer, Polestar will likely focus on ensuring seamless connectivity between its electric cars and its Android smartphones. However, the exact details of this integration are not yet known.

Meizu, which belongs to the same company that controls Polestar, has its own Flyme Auto software. However, internal reports suggest that the Polestar Phone may offer a Polestar OS interface, which will likely be developed in collaboration with Meizu.

It’s still very early and that’s why Polestar hasn’t revealed any specifications for its smartphone yet, but rumors reveal that it will be equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. For now there is only speculation and rumors, having to wait until December to find out more information about this new Android proposal
