The electric car manufacturer Polestar is notifying 250 employees in Gothenburg, reports GP. Staff were informed at 2pm on Friday afternoon.
In total, the workforce at the company is to be reduced by 15 percent at group level, says a spokesperson for the company to the newspaper.
The background is that the company’s ambition is to increase profitability and reduce the need for financing.
“To achieve the plan, we need to adjust the size of the business. In part, there are still challenging market conditions,” says press officer Theo Kjellberg.
The downsizing concerns white-collar workers and not production staff.
A total of 3,000 civil servants work and the notice applies to 450 positions internationally. As recently as May, Polestar announced 170 services linked to delays of the Polestar 3. The company had then lowered the forecast for sales from 80,000 to 60,000-70,000. When the year was summed up, it was even lower, with 55,000 cars sold.
