(Elbil24 🙂 Earlier this year, the newborn car manufacturer Polestar presented the concept car Precept. That a producer, who does not have a single model on the market, shows off such a cheeky project can easily be perceived as a pure audience courtship, without much substance.
In retrospect, they have started delivering Polestar 2 to Norwegian customers, and now they announce that Precept will also be produced.
Polestar 2 excels on the Tesla Model 3
In Elbil24 we were actually not very surprised. We know that Polestar is here to stay, and there are few manufacturers who take it any longer to develop air castles in the form of concept cars that do not make sense. In fact, the head of the Polestar, Thomas Ingenlath, has also previously stated that Precept commits, and is not just pure imagination. When it hits the market, it will have to be compared to Lucid Air, Tesla Model S and theirs.
Focus on emissions
This time, it is not technology and performance that are first in focus. That kind of thing is actually not mentioned in a word, but the climate impact, on the other hand. Thomas Ingenlath says that Precept will be a kind of proof of their future obligations. The goal should be to make the company CO2-neutral, and then you have to start with the cars. Ingenlath has previously asked the entire industry to take action and be honest in its communication around climate footprints. Not only the part that has to do with the cars’ emissions, but also the production process.
With Precept, all sections must be reviewed, materials assessed, and the actual total emissions from all sections put in focus.
We know this about the Swedes’ new SUV
Precept will therefore use a number of recycled materials. From the car manufacturers, it has been a sport to list the strangest products that are recycled, and Polestar thinks it sounds cool with old fishing nets. No matter what they say, they recycle, in practice it is PET, which can just as easily be old soda bottles – and there is nothing wrong with that.
As is well known, Polestar has close connections to Volvo, and has, among other things, the same owner through Geely. Volvo has previously stated that they are entering into a so-called blockchain solution when it comes to raw materials for use in the batteries in the electrified cars. Here they trace the origin of all the raw materials from the first stage of sale to each individual car.
This is how Volvo will ensure ethically acceptable raw materials
A little derailment, but here Ingenlath has a job to do. The problem, especially with cobalt, is that neither Volvo nor others have control over where the raw material comes from before it ends up at the first sales stage, where the raw material is marked and starts its tracking. This means that the unethical raw materials are labeled in the same way as the ethical ones. The shit is marked in the same way as the gold. Fortunately, Polestar is committed to overcoming this problem.
Several models
But Precept is not the only car Polestar has confirmed it will produce. That Polestar has chosen to use numbers as a model name, they have shown with both the rechargeable hybrid Polestar 1 and the fully electric Polestar 2. Earlier this summer, the company confirmed to Elbil24 that Polestar 3 is on the way.

– Polestar 3 will be an aerodynamic electric SUV, with size and price in the layer between Polestar 1 and Polestar 2, Ellis says to Elbil24.
This means that Polestar, in addition to Precept, comes with another car. When the Polestar 3 hits the market in 2022, it will be chasing the same potential customers as the Audi e-tron, Jaguar i-Pace and the other SUV models in this class.
So far, Polestar has said that the car will be produced in China, but not when. Which comes first of this and Polestar 3 is currently uncertain.
