The streets of the United Kingdom will soon witness the appearance of the first car without a rear window, according to the British “Sky News” network, as this Swedish-made vehicle features a high-definition screen, displaying real-time scenes from a rear camera mounted on the ceiling, instead of the rear-view mirror.
The car manufacturer, owned by Volvo, completely eliminated the rear window to provide more space in front of the driver’s head.
The company indicated that the Polestar 4 will give drivers a “unique experience” and a better view of the road behind them.
Automotive journalist Quentin Wilson told Sky News: “The rear windows in cars are becoming smaller and smaller, with the increasing desire of consumers to obtain smaller vehicles, and therefore there has become a need for there to be more room for the driver’s head.”
He added: “Volvo did something really smart and got rid of the rear window completely, and gave us this new feature, and these vehicles have entered the market in China since December without any disappointing comments about them.” (Al Hurra)
