Yesterday, the Polish Constitutional Court ruled to no longer allow abortion if the fetus shows serious and irreparable abnormalities. That category makes up about 98 percent of all legal abortions in the country. Due to the amended law, there will be an almost total ban on premature termination of pregnancy in the country. Poland already has one of the strictest abortion rules in the EU anyway. Only if the pregnancy threatens the life or health of the mother or if the pregnancy is the result of rape or incest, abortion is still allowed.
