Polemic Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) whose grass was said not to meet FIFA standards until the appearance of the statement by consultant Buro Happold caused a public commotion. Former Governor of DKI Jakarta and vice president of the Coalition for Change for Unity (KPP) Anies Baswedan opened his voice.
“Oh yes, I’m not fussy about that,” said Anies at Soetta Airport, Tangerang, Banten, Wednesday (12/7/2023).
Previously, Buro Happold was known as one of the parties involved in the development of JIS. In the official statement seen detikcomBuro Happold explains his role in the project.
“Jakarta Konsultindo (Jakkon) asked Buro Happold to make design guidelines and provide consulting services, from December 2018 to March 2019,” said the official statement, Sunday (9/7).
“During the period of making the guide, the company ensured that the design of all aspects related to FIFA standards was met,” he continued.
Buro Happold says there are several aspects that don’t fit with their concept. This, according to Buro Happold, has been conveyed to project executors.
“The results of the company’s review identified several aspects that were not in accordance with the original design concept guidelines from Buro Happold. These findings have been submitted by Buro Happold in a separate letter,” said the official statement.
Buro Happold’s explanation then sparked pressure for a total audit for JIS development. Secretary of the DKI Jakarta DPRD PDIP faction, Rio Sambodo, also proposed the formation of a special committee if needed.
“Concretely, there must be basic technical handling, both short term and long term for infrastructure facilities. As well as a total audit of planning and construction aspects,” said Rio, Sunday (9/7).
“Form a JIS special committee if deemed necessary,” explained Rio.
Meanwhile, PKS Fraction Secretary of the DKI Jakarta DPRD Muhammad Taufik Zoelkifli (MTZ) assessed that there was no need for a special committee regarding the JIS polemic.
“There is no need for a special committee, because Buro Happold did not design JIS. It was clear from the start. In Commission B it was also clear that it was the sons and daughters of Indonesia who built and designed JIS, not Buro Happold. Buro Happold was a consultant,” said Taufik .
