The pole vault competitions of the German Athletics Championships 2023 will be held in Düsseldorf in the run-up to the DM weekend from Kassel on the banks of the Rhine.
The German Athletics Championships 2023 will take place on Saturday and Sunday, April 8th and 9th. July in Kassel. All disciplines with the exception of the men’s and women’s pole vault are planned for the Aue Stadium there. The German Athletics Association (DLV) informed on Friday that the pole vault titles will be awarded as part of the “Finals 2023” on the banks of the Rhine in Düsseldorf.
“This decision was made in coordination with the TV partners ARD and ZDF, Finals GmbH, the DLV, the Hessian Athletics Association (HLV) and the city of Kassel, and with the involvement of athletes and trainers and the pole vault strongholds met in order to focus on athletics in Düsseldorf and to offer the athletes an individual media presence,” said DLV President Jürgen Kessing.
DLV CEO Idriss Gonschinska added: “Among other things, there will be a comprehensive TV broadcast of the pole vault on Thursday and Friday (6/7). The DM outsourcing as an additional innovative format has inspired athletes and spectators in recent years and introduced athletics to new target groups. This time in Düsseldorf we would like to focus on the pole vaulters. We would like to thank the city of Kassel and the HLV in particular for supporting this outsourcing, to the delight of the athletes.”
34 of the total of 36 DM decisions in athletics are made on Saturday and Sunday in the Auestadion in Kassel. The city of Kassel has created optimal framework conditions for this, among other things with a renewal of the railway and a new video wall. “We are already looking forward to the big DM weekend!”, Idriss Gonschinska looks ahead.
