Pôle Autonomie Santé: Providing Support for Independence and Autonomy in Hérault

“When I was working, I often noticed that it was an environment and a habitat that was very suitable for the loss of autonomy of residents that forced them to stay in an establishment. But it’s hard to leave home,” testifies to Éric Pastor, assistant producer at CCAS of Lattes, trained masseur-physiotherapist. To support the independence of these people, in 2009 we established the L’Étape du Pôle Autonomie Santé service, managed by the CCAS. » Label Technical Assistance Information and Advice Center (Cicat), since its creation, has benefited from a versatile team, which is its strength. Professionals welcome and provide full and free support to people with disabilities or loss of autonomy, as well as their carers and care professionals. The team analyzes their situation, makes recommendations for the layout of their homes and can even get them to test technical support in their buildings (showers, doors, seats, modified dishes , etc.), without commercial aim. The team can also guide them in finding funding. Over the years, he has created connections with many trades (carers, craftsmen, distributors, home automation installers, etc.) and thus strengthened his knowledge of automation management at home and at work. Since 2010, this reception and advice service has been open to all residents of Hérault. By appointment, users can test the technical support in the premises of the Center but also at home.

Joint planning of technical support

The group will also develop several groups such as Living Lab. This methodology makes it possible to integrate the needs of the end user into the design and evaluation of products and services. Involved are users, user associations, engineers, manufacturers and distributors, start-ups, health, medical-social and institutional networks as well as the world of research (Universities, engineering schools, etc.) and economic development ( the metropolis of Montpellier, Ad’). From 2021 and at least until the end of 2024, the Pole is one of the 24 teams chosen by the team. National Solidarity Fund for Independence (CNSA), to test the EqLAAT system (local support team for technical assistance). This action, carried out with the support of the National Health Insurance Fund (Cnam), now allows the Center to travel to homes throughout the Hérault region. 930 families have been met in their homes since the trial began.

National participation of Poland

The Center also conducts technical and documentary research, implements awareness-raising activities, collects and analyzes the needs of people who lose their independence, conducts studies on use and suitability, at the house or in his building, holding days of exchanges and thematic exhibitions… “We are also working on the design of technical aids, to make them as stigmatized as possible, especially for a younger audience.”, the consultant continued. To carry out all its activities, the Center is constantly interacting with professionals in the world of disability, gerontology, research, manufacturing / distribution of technical assistance, economic development and the housing sector. It also contributes to the guidance supported by institutions and communities, and is involved in national systems through partnerships with the CNSA, the National Old Age Insurance Fund (Cnav), the money economy and the disability delegation of the Ministry of Health and Solidarity.

A balanced budget

The Center has been installed since 2013, in buildings larger than the town hall where it was first installed. It will include a 460 m2 showroom, a 150 m2 FabLab workshop, an amphitheater with a capacity of 150 seats, business accommodation connected to self-management, a space collaboration area for professionals in the sector and four training rooms. “All these projects that were undertaken from the beginning were not possible because of the close contact that was maintained with the regional council to ensure that our services will be compatible.stressing the deputy mayor. Our goal is to lose the super respect, by creating a welcoming environment to encourage people to see us, to prevent and raise awareness of the dangers associated with the loss of autonomy. »
