Fresh polar air is passing over the country, the expert explained
It is possible that this winter will be the warmest for Bulgaria since meteorological observations have been made. This was stated by climatologist Prof. Georgi Rachev in the program “This morning”.
“2022 is the fifth warmest year, and not by any significant difference to 2016, which is iconic. It’s just about a tenth of a degree. All warm years, except 1999, are after 2000 ., i.e. in the 21st century. We are living in a very interesting time, because especially for Bulgaria, this winter may turn out to be the warmest since meteorological observations have been made,” he said.
It will invade Western Europe today and tomorrow very fresh polar air and temperatures will drop, although it is very warm for the season over the Old Continent. The two cold fronts will normalize temperatures and become normal for January. “It is possible that even in the Sahara there are places with a flag,” said Prof. Rachev.
In contrast to this, other air masses are coming to the Balkan Peninsula – this time from the south. It will invade warm air from the Sahara. This means that temperatures will again reach 14-16 degrees in the coming days. “In some places in Bulgaria, even 18 degrees will be recordedProf. Rachev also reported.
It also became clear from his words that the temperatures in Sofia are a little over 4 degrees higher than the norm for the season. It is likely that the good weather in our country will last until January 22-23, when the climatologist expects the temperatures to drop and bring them in sync with winter.
