Poland’s president and Commissioner Wojciechowski said farmers needed help because of the floods – 2024-09-16 08:39:27


There will be funds in the EU budget to support the affected farmers from Poland, the agriculture commissioner said

The Polish farmer needs comprehensive care from the state. I am asking the Minister of Agriculture Czeslav Sikerski for funds for the farmersaffected by natural disasters, said the president of Poland Andrzej Duda on Sunday during the Presidential Harvest Festival, farmer.pl.

President Andrzej Duda thanked everyone present and especially the farmers and promotion groups from three voivodships: Opole, Silesia and Lower Silesia, where residents are currently struggling with the flood. He also called on the head of the Ministry of Agriculture attending the presidential harvest festival to organize funds for farmers affected by the natural calamity.

The president added that before the ceremony he spoke with the chief commander of the State Fire Service Brig. Dr. Eng. Mariusz Feltinovski. He emphasized that 33,000 firefighters are involved in rescue operations.

During the Presidential Harvest Festival, Janusz Wojciechowski also addressed the farmers who are struggling with high water levels these days. “Today I assure you that there will be funds in the EU budget to help Polish farmers affected by the flood.”

The commissioner called for a strong Polish voice in terms of a bigger EU budget for agriculture, especially since the Polish presidency of the EU Council will start in a few months.
