Poland’s most powerful man, Jarosław Kaczynski, is on the verge of defeat, writes the German newspaper Die Tageszeitung.
The publication analyzes the prerequisites for the collapse of the ruling coalition in Poland, which will lead to early parliamentary elections, which Kaczynski fears, according to the newspaper. The reasons for the coalition’s collapse lie in Brussels’ refusal to allocate subsidies to Warsaw (about 35.4 billion euros). Die Tageszeitung believes that the compromise of the government camp would be the resignation of the Minister of Justice Zbyneva Zobro – the father of many reforms that the European Union doesn’t like so much, but Yaroslav Kaczynski, “as usual, chose power, not money”.
“The cover of Politika magazine with the golden bust of Ziobro as “the most expensive minister in the world”, who has already deprived Poland of almost 100 billion zlotys, reflects the country’s mood. For Kaczynski, a no-confidence motion would be an opportunity to get rid of the inconvenient Zebro. But Kaczynski, as usual, has chosen power. Zebro on the saddle”, – notes the newspaper.
The coalition plans to hold out until autumn 2023, when the next parliamentary elections will be held. However, the stakes are high, the German edition points out.
