For Nikola Grbic’s team, this is the 11th match in this edition of the Nations League, and the third during the last Nations League tournament in the Philippines. The previous two matches were won by the world runners-up – first after a fierce battle with Slovenia 3:2, and on Friday with Brazil 3:1.
Saturday’s opponent of our volleyball players, confident of playing in the final tournament in Gdańsk, is Canada. The team of the Finnish coach Toumas Sammelvuo – led by ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle triumphed in the Champions League in May – suffered as many as eight defeats in ten games. She won only twice – against Cuba (3:2) and Bulgaria (3:1).

The White and Reds are therefore the clear favorites of this confrontation. It was started by: Grzegorz Łomacz, Aleksander Śliwka, Łukasz Kaczmarek, Norbert Huber, Karol Kłos, Kamil Semeniuk, Jakub Popiwczak.
Our team started calmly, perhaps even too calmly, because at 9:11, the Serbian coach of Poland asked for time out for the first time in this match. The Canadians played without any complexes, especially Arthur Szwarc. They were leading, but our team reacted in time. After a great single block by Kłos and Huber’s service ace, the Poles took the lead by 18:16. The rival coach intervened, but his players began to make more and more mistakes (10 in total in the first game). Wilfredo Leon appeared in our ranks on the court and immediately scored two points, including from a serve. After Śliwka’s attack, the Poles won the set 25:21.

The beginning of the second set was very similar to the first, with the difference that the White-and-Reds switched to the next gear earlier. From 6:6 they won three points in a row. Two were the work of the well-disposed Huber. Our volleyball players did not intend to stop there, they consistently built their advantage. After two great actions by Łomacz it was 14:9. Five points of advantage soon became two (19:17), and in a moment there was nothing left. The Canadians were picked up by Samuel Cooper, who showed off with a block and two great serves.
