The European Commission’s decisions to lift restrictions on the import of Ukrainian agricultural products will not affect Poland’s decision to introduce its own unilateral ban.

“The import ban (by the European Commission – Ed.) has been lifted. We will continue the import ban,” Morawiecki said, emphasizing that Warsaw will not listen to “Tusk’s Berlin” and Weber, referring to ex-Prime Minister Donald Tusk (who the current Polish authorities are accused of working for Germany) and, probably, the leader of the European People’s Party, Manfred Weber.
“We will continue the ban on the import of Ukrainian grain, despite the lack of EU approval,” the Polish Prime Minister emphasized.
The European Commission had previously announced that will not extend restrictions on imports of agricultural products from Ukraine after September 15but Kyiv agreed to take measures to limit imports on its part.
As you know, the European Commission has introduced a temporary restriction on the import of Ukrainian agricultural products into five EU member states – Poland, Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania and Slovakia. They argued that Ukrainian grain was affecting their market and harming farmers.
In June, the EU executive decided to extend the restrictions until September 15, promising that this would be the last such decision.
At the same time, the Polish government adopted a resolution on Tuesday declaring its intentions extend the ban nationally, if it is not extended at EU level. Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal in response announced an appeal to arbitration of the World Trade Organization.
