The nuclear reactor simulator will be built in Poland. There is a deal
The cooperation is also to guarantee support from the institutes that are part of the Łukasiewicz Research Network. The center will train future nuclear engineers and conduct information and education activities in the broadly understood energy industry. It is to be launched in 2027.
– The demand for power engineers, nuclear engineers, atomists is huge, and the interest of young people in this direction is very high, hence a few months ago we entered into an agreement between the Ministry of Education and Science, Orlen and six of our technical universities throughout Poland. Today, two additional things – said the head of the Ministry of National and National Education.
– The first: the Łukasiewicz Research Network joins our agreement, which will soon sign a contract with Orlen Synthos Green Energy, the subject of which will be the construction of the first nuclear reactor simulator in Europe for the purposes of educating nuclear power engineers and nuclear engineers. I think not only in Poland, I think not only from Poland, but also from Europe. This will be the only one-to-one nuclear reactor simulator – announced the head of the Ministry of National and National Education.
Educating specialists
He specified that it is to be built within the next three or four years. – Hence, those students who start studying nuclear energy this year will be able to use this European center with a nuclear reactor simulator. This is the first thing that unites us here in the ministry today – indicated Czarnek. – The second: three more universities join our agreement, they also want to educate students in these fields at home – he added.
On Wednesday, representatives of the university also signed an annex to the letter of intent on the training of staff for nuclear energy with the head of the Ministry of Education and Science and the president of PKN Orlen, Daniel Obajtek, in connection with the accession of further universities.
In January, a letter of intent on cooperation for the creation and organization of the field of study nuclear energy was signed by the Minister of Education and Science, PKN Orlen, the Gdańsk, Poznań, Silesia, Warsaw and Wrocław Universities of Technology and the AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków. On Wednesday, the Koszalin University of Technology, the Cracow University of Technology, the University of Warsaw and the Łukasiewicz Center joined this group.
Atomic laboratory
The head of the Ministry of Education and Science also informed that he had told the rectors that he had spoken with the director of the National Center for Nuclear Research, prof. Eng. Krzysztof Kurek.
I know that talks between our polytechnics and NCBJ are underway in order for NCBJ to become an atomic laboratory that will be used for the purposes of educating students. I informed the rectors that the Ministry of Science and National Education will increase the subsidies to all those universities that will use the NCBJ in order to cover the costs of educating students in our nuclear laboratory, said the minister.
Construction of the first nuclear reactor in Poland
– If we do not invest in new sources and technologies, we will lose the competitiveness of our economy. We must have a vision for this. We had such a vision in the Orlen concern, for this all mergers were needed, which allowed to obtain a certain size, will allow to obtain and obtain a certain capital and synergy, which actually generate this capital – he assessed.
The President of Orlen pointed out that he wants to create a European Personnel Training Center for Nuclear Energy in Europe. – We not only have exclusivity when it comes to the SMR BWRX300 for our country, but we have this exclusivity much wider – he added.
He noted that the simulator “will help educate young people and will cooperate with all universities with which we have signed an agreement.” – This is the next step. After this stage, there is simply work in new power plants – he explained.
