“On June 27, Castorone, one of the sea vessels responsible for laying the offshore section of the gas pipeline between Poland and Denmark, began laying the Baltic Pipe in the Baltic Sea,” the statement says.
Laying began in Danish waters off Bornholm Island.
It is noted that the Castorone vessel will gradually move along the gas pipeline route in the northwest direction.
“The laying of an almost 275 km long offshore pipeline will take several months. Weather permitting, the entire process will be completed this year,” the statement said.
It is worth noting that in early June, the Danish Environmental and Food Appeals Board revoked the permit issued by the Environmental Protection Agency for the construction of the Baltic Pipe gas pipeline.
As a reminder, May 4, 2020 in Poland launched the construction of the Baltic Pipe… This was announced on national TV by the President of the country Andrzej Duda. He stressed that in the end Ukraine will be able to receive gas.
The Baltic Pipe project envisages three phases: the connection of Norwegian and Danish gas transmission systems, the expansion of Denmark’s infrastructure, and the construction of the Baltic Pipe, which will connect Poland and Denmark along the bottom of the Baltic Sea. The planned capacity of the gas pipeline is 10 billion cubic meters per year. Poland planned to complete the construction by October 1, 2022.
The cost of the project is more than 1.5 billion euros, of which almost 267 million are the funds of the European Commission.
