The government agency announced today that the contract provides for the delivery of 44 iLaunchers and several hundred CAMM missiles, as well as related equipment.
The delivery of military equipment is planned from 2025 to 2029.
MBDA also announced the conclusion of the contract with Poland, calling it “the largest European short-range air defense acquisition program for NATO.”
The missiles and missile launchers will be used to support the modernization of the Polish army and the production of 22 PILICA+ air defense batteries, MBDA said.
Downing Street’s press release states that British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak welcomed this agreement, which will strengthen Euro-Atlantic security.
The statement noted that Poland already uses CAMM missiles manufactured by MBDA.
Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak stated that this agreement will strengthen Poland’s air defense capabilities.
In 2022, Poland spent 2.4% of the gross domestic product (GDP) on defense, which is the third highest percentage among NATO countries. This year, Poland’s defense spending is likely to reach 3% of GDP.
Poland has recently signed several contracts for the purchase of new armaments, including with the United States and South Korea.
