In an interview with the public television channel “TVP Info”, Mularczyk was asked whether Poland plans to prepare a report on the losses caused by the USSR, similar to the report published last year on the losses caused by Nazi Germany during the Second World War.
“The War Loss Institute is preparing such a report,” the official replied.
“Given that the report on [nacistu nodarītajiem] Poland’s losses were witnessed by the German attack, it must be a thoroughly documented report so that no one can dispute it,” added the deputy minister.
Mularczyk arrived in Germany on Monday to discuss in the Bundestag Poland’s demands to Berlin to pay reparations for the damages caused by the Nazis.
According to a report published on September 1 last year, Poland estimated that the losses caused by the Nazis reached 6 trillion 220 billion 609 million zlotys (approximately 1.3 trillion euros).
An extensive information campaign will be launched in Germany this week to introduce Germans to this report, which has now been translated into German and will be presented to both the most influential politicians and the media.
Meanwhile, the speaker of the Russian State Duma, Vyacheslav Volodin, announced on Sunday that Poland had “betrayed” the historical memory of the so-called Soviet liberators and that it would have to face the consequences of this betrayal.
Valodin has also announced that Moscow should demand 750 billion dollars in compensation from Warsaw for the Soviet Union’s investments in Poland and that the Poles should give up the territories they gained after World War II at the expense of defeated Germany.
