Polish volleyball players won the European Championship for the second time in history. The Polish national team became the European champion for the first time in 2009. Also, the Polish team is a four-time bronze medalist of the tournament (1967, 2011, 2019, 2021).
The bronze medals of the European Championship were won by the Slovenian national team, which in the match for third place beat the French national team with a score of 3-2 (25:22, 25:16, 21:25, 18:25, 15:11).
The European Championship took place from August 28 to September 16 in the cities of Italy, Bulgaria, North Macedonia and Israel. The Italian national team, a seven-time European champion, won the tournament last time – in 2021. Thus, the Italians were unable to defend the title.
Let us remind you that the teams of Russia and Belarus have been suspended from participation in international competitions by the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) since March 2022 due to the events in Ukraine.
