Poland continues to protest against the ban on abortion. The Prime Minister called for dialogue, he is afraid of spreading the disease – ČT24 – Czech Television

Protesters have flooded the streets of cities almost every day since the verdict, despite coronavirus restrictions banning gatherings of more than five people in Poland. Protesters in Katowice on Monday blocked traffic in the center, according to footage from TVN24.

In Poznan, a group of protesters stood in the way of cars and trams and chanted “I will protect my sisters if the state does not save them.” Other people held banners reading “This is war.” In Wroclaw, protesters took to the streets with the slogans “I think, I feel, I decide”.

The disease is also growing in Poland

“I ask you to sit down for talks. Let our disputes not be resolved in the streets and not be the cause of further infections, “Morawiecki said in a video posted on Facebook before the protests began. Poland, like other European countries, is facing an increase in coronavirus infections, with the Ministry of Health announcing more than 15,500 new infections on Monday.

Demonstrations in Poland erupted on October 22, when the Constitutional Court issued a verdict that the current version of the 1993 abortion law violated the constitution. The court, composed mainly of judges nominated by the ruling Law and Justice (PiS) party, wants to change the part of the law that allows abortion in the event of serious developmental defects in the fetus.

According to statistics, these cases accounted for 98 percent of legal abortions in recent years. Abortions should be allowed if the life or health of the mother is endangered or if the pregnancy is the result of rape or incest.
