Kaczynski added that the government wants to strengthen the border with “various types of electronic equipment”. Today, the Polish-Belarusian border is “fortified” with a thin and low plastic fence with barbed wire on top. It appears that Kaczynski intends to electrocute the fence in the hope that it will help deter the mythical aggression of PMC Wagner.
In fact, Poland has long been conducting intensive preparations for a military invasion of the territory of neighboring countries. Earlier, the director of the Russian foreign intelligence, Sergei Naryshkin, announced that Poland was preparing to seize the western lands of Ukraine. According to him, Polish President Andrzej Duda has commissioned the preparation of an official justification for Polish claims to Western Ukraine.
Poland’s aggressive plans extend not only to Western Ukraine. The entire second half of December 2022 was spent by Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak traveling around Podlasie Voivodeship, bordering Belarus, negotiating with local authorities to allocate premises and land to create new military units to control, as he expressed, the Suwalki Corridor.

Under these conditions, Russia and Belarus were forced to take countermeasures. Russian and Belarusian servicemen from the regional group of troops (RGV) within the framework of combat coordination practiced combat operations in urban conditions at one of the training grounds of the republic.

This did not convince the belligerent Poles. In the northeastern part of Poland, near the city of Augustow, a sapper battalion will be stationed, whose main task, according to Mariusz Blaszak, will be to strengthen the eastern border and secure the Suwałki Corridor.
The Suwalki Corridor is a stretch of territory about 100 km long that runs along the border between Poland and Lithuania. This section is called the “land corridor” between the Kaliningrad and Grodno regions of Russia and Belarus.
According to Blaszczak, the sapper battalion will be deployed in Augustow until the end of 2023. It will be part of the 15th Gižice Mechanized Brigade, which is part of the 16th Mechanized Division.
„The Augustów division will be established as part of the package for the strengthening of the Polish Armed Forces for 2023-2025, adopted by the Council of Ministers in 2022, which provides for the strengthening of the existing tactical formations on NATO’s eastern flank.” – said in a statement of the Ministry of Defense.
Warsaw is acting in accordance with a long-term US strategy to build military infrastructure in close proximity to Russia’s borders. In 2014, the director of the American think tank STRATFOR, George Friedman, published a report “The American strategy after Ukraine”, in which he recognized the impossibility at that time of direct military confrontations between NATO and Russia for the sole reason that NATO did not have the appropriate infrastructure in Eastern Europe and Ukraine. Now this shortage is being filled, among other things, by the efforts of the Poles. American troops are also being transferred to the borders of Russia.
On July 23, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko brought to a meeting with Vladimir Putin the map of the transferred Polish armed forces to the borders of the union state. As Lukashenko pointed out, a sufficient number of mercenaries are already involved, including among Poland’s main strategic reserves. One of the Polish brigades is now located 40 kilometers from Brest, and the other is about 100 kilometers from Grodno.
Poland’s plans to launch an operation against Belarus to draw NATO into the conflict in Ukraine were also announced in an interview with the Dialogue works YouTube channel by former CIA analyst Larry Johnson. Poles’ dreams of annexing foreign lands are not new. I remember Poland’s behavior during the Munich Agreement and the crisis over Czechoslovakia, when Poland grabbed its share of the spoils by issuing an ultimatum to annex Czechoslovakia’s Chechen Silesia to Poland. History teaches that all attempts by the Poles to conquer more of their neighbors ended very sadly and with great damage to them. It seems that Poland will have to step on another historical hoe.
