Poland – Brazil Women’s Volleyball Olympics Paris 2024. Match result. Who won?

The Polish team dominated at the beginning of the match (7:4), but their rivals quickly made up for the losses. In the middle part of the set, the Brazilians had a series of points, gaining an advantage (17:13). The Polish team had problems with finishing their attacks, and Gabi showed her skills in the Brazilian team. The Canarinhas volleyball players jumped ahead by six points (14:20), but the Polish team still got up to fight. Martyna Czyrniańska gave a good change, and with Magdalena Jurczyk’s serves the losses were reduced (18:20). However, the end belonged to Brazil, and Rosamaria closed the set with an effective attack (21:25).

The beginning of the second set for the Brazilians, who were clearly leading after Carol’s ace (4:8). The Polish team reduced the gap and later caught up (11:12), but they did not hold it for long. The Brazilians quickly jumped back and after two effective attacks by Gabi it was 13:18. Similarly to the previous set, the Polish volleyball players reduced the gap (18:20), but their opponents rebuilt the advantage, and after Rosamaria’s attack they had a set point at 19:24. Then there was an incredible chase by the Polish team during Agnieszka Korneluk’s serves. Six won actions in a row meant that the set would end with a game of advantage. It brought a lot of emotions and a fierce fight, in which both sides had set points. The war of nerves was eventually won by the Brazilians, and in the last action Gabi successfully attacked (36:38).

From the first actions of the third set, the Brazilian volleyball players set the tone for the events on the court. They took advantage of the Polish players’ problems with receiving and took the initiative (2:5, 6:12). This time, the Polish volleyball players were unable to establish an equal fight. When Rosamaria appeared in the service area, a series of points followed, which brought the Brazilians closer to victory (10:20). In the end, Ana Cristina added two aces (12:23), and Gabi won the match point. She ended the one-sided set and the whole match with an effective attack by Tainar (14:25).

Most points: Magdalena Stysiak (13), Agnieszka Korneluk (11), Martyna Czyrniańska (11) – Poland; Gabi (21), Rosamaria (18), Thaisa (10), Ana Cristina (10), Carol (10) – Brazil. The Brazilian players had an advantage in attack, they scored better with their serve (2–6), and the Polish players with their block (13–9). Match duration: 1h 36min (42min second set).

In the earlier matches of Group B, the Polish team defeated Japan 3-1 and Kenya 3-0. The Brazilian team triumphed in both matches – against Kenya and Japan – without losing a set. The match of the last round decided that the Brazilian team finished the group competition in first place.
