Poland and Belarus are facing a diplomatic war

The Polish authorities reserve the right to respond to Belarus’ decision to expel two Polish diplomats working in Grodno. This was announced on Thursday by Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Marcin Pszydach.

“Minsk has decided to expel two more Polish consuls working in Belarus. Poland reserves the right to an adequate response,” he wrote on Twitter on Thursday.

On March 11, I.D. Polish Ambassador to Belarus Martin Wojciechowski has been summoned to the Belarusian Foreign Ministry.

The Polish side was informed of the decision on the inexpediency of the presence on the territory of Belarus of the head and consul of the Polish Consulate General in Grodno. At the same time, the Polish side was served a note proposing that the persons leave the territory of the Republic of Belarus within 48 hours.

The two neighboring countries are in strained relationship because of Warsaw’s support for the opposition in Belarus.
