1st failed thief – Gründau
At around 2:55 am on Sunday morning, previously unknown authors used brute force to enter a large electronics store in Lieblos. After first opening the double-leaf glass sliding door with a lever, they entered the anteroom of the entrance area. There, the authors attached a kind of tow rope to the market’s roll-up grille with a carabiner and tried to tear it from its anchor with the help of a vehicle. However, this was only partially successful. The activation of the alarm system and the apparently broken tow rope caused the prevented thieves to escape. The remains of the rope and a gas cylinder were found in the parking lot. It is currently unclear whether the crime is related to past ATM blasts in Hesse. The criminal police have initiated their investigation and are asking witnesses who may have been in the Rudolf-Walther-Strasse area at this time and have made suspicious remarks to provide relevant information by calling 06181-100-123.
The traffic police report:
1st rental car destroyed – BAB 66, Maintal district
A damaging one-vehicle accident occurred early Sunday morning around 1:35 am at the Maintal-Dörnigheim junction on BAB 66 in the direction of Frankfurt. A 33-year-old BMW driver left the motorway at the junction and left the carriageway, probably due to excessive speed in the right-hand corner. He crashed head-on into the safety barrier, took off and stopped on the roof embankment among the trees. The accident became known through BMW’s emergency call system, whose accident reporting service had a brief contact with the driver. The search for the vehicle was initially difficult because the coordinates transmitted by BMW were exactly in the so-called triangle between the entrance and exit of the Maintal-Dörnigheim interchange. When the vehicle was found, officers found a lot of blood inside, but initially there was no sign of the driver. The police helicopter was asked to look for the obviously injured driver, as it could not be ruled out that he was in a helpless position somewhere near the crash site. Parallel searches on the rental car hirer eventually led to him being found at his home address in Langenselbold. Due to head injuries, the driver of the accident was taken as a precaution to the Main-Kinzig clinic in Gelnhausen. Since the influence of alcohol was also determined, a blood test and the seizure of his driver’s license were ordered. The total damage is estimated at 90,000 euros, of which 80,000 euros only for the total loss of the BMW.
