1. ROADPOL controls “Alcohol and drugs” – Offenbach and A66 (Maintal / Langenselbold)
(lei) Since participation in road traffic under the influence of alcohol or drugs is one of the main causes of serious traffic accidents, intoxicated road users were the focus of the officers at the Offenbach police station and the Langenselbold police motorway station on Thursday and early Friday morning. As part of the ROADPOL action week on alcohol and drugs and especially the international road safety day “sicher.mobil.leben – Fahrkeit im Blick” (“safe.mobile.life – driving ability in view”), the officials paid particular attention to driving ability and checked numerous drivers at fixed checkpoints.
Between 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., the Offenbach law enforcement officers posted themselves in the north ring on Thursday and carried out a detailed check of 46 vehicles and 61 people throughout the day. A good dozen breath alcohol and drug tests were carried out, but fortunately none of them showed any abnormalities. However, several fines were issued for various administrative offences.
In the evening and on Friday night, the highway police pulled out several vehicles on Autobahn 66. Between 9:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. they were at the Maintal-Bischofsheim junction in the direction of Frankfurt, and from 1:30 a.m. in Langenselbold (in the direction of Fulda). As a result, all 27 drivers checked were fit to drive. In this respect, the law enforcement officers were able to draw a positive balance here.
However, a look at the statistics shows that not everyone is always on the road sober: In 2021, 399 traffic accidents occurred on the roads in the area of responsibility of the police headquarters in Southeast Hesse, in which at least one participant was under the influence of alcohol or drugs or even both.
“Constant checks are an essential part of successful traffic safety work. And anyone who drives a vehicle sober makes a direct contribution,” summarizes Jochen Wegmann, head of the Traffic Safety and Special Services Directorate at the police headquarters in Southeast Hesse. In this context, the police are continuing to announce targeted controls with this focus.
What is ROADPOL? ROADPOL is a network of European police authorities that coordinate and implement targeted national actions to enforce traffic rules. The main goal is to reduce the number of people killed and seriously injured on Europe’s roads.

1. 19-year-old pedestrian injured: Search for an older driver in a gray car – Offenbach
(lei) A 19-year-old pedestrian sustained abrasions and bruises during an escape from an accident on Bismarckstrasse on Thursday afternoon. The woman from Offenbach was on the sidewalk of Bismarckstrasse at around 3:25 p.m. and then crossed the junction with Mittelseestrasse. Coming from there, a previously unknown “elderly” man in his gray car wanted to turn right into Bismarckstrasse and overlooked the 19-year-old, which caused a collision. The vehicle then just drove on. The driver of the car with OF license plates had grey-white hair and a full white beard. He was traveling with another person. The accident escape investigators can call 06183 91155-0 for information about the driver they are looking for and his car.
2. Young people on a joyride with a wheel loader? – Offenbach
(lei) Did you want to steal him or was it just an illegal jaunt? This question is currently the subject of investigations by the K 22 of the Offenbach Kripo, which specializes in motor vehicle offences. Around 1:30 a.m. early Friday morning, the police were informed that several young people were driving a yellow wheel loader on Wilhelm-Leber-Weg. One drives, the others sit on the shovel, according to a witness. Shortly thereafter, patrol officers who arrived found the working machine to be deserted – with a smashed side window and the ignition key missing. Before that, it was on a construction site not far away. The investigators are now asking for further information about the young people on 069 8098-1234.
3. 12-year-old beaten: who can provide information about the e-bike rider? – Obertshausen
(lei) A 12-year-old was slapped on Tuesday evening by a previously unknown e-bike rider on Malteserstrasse. Now the officials of the regional investigation group East are looking for witnesses to the incident. At around 7:15 p.m., the boy wanted to ride his bike on the pedestrian and cycle path there in the direction of the underpass (Heusenstammer Straße). Apparently there was a near-collision with the 30 to 40-year-old cyclist with a gray e-bike. The unknown wearer of glasses with a light brown beard, dark clothing and a dark helmet, according to the boy, then got off his e-bike, grabbed his arm and verbally snapped at him. He then hit him in the face with his flat hand and then drove on to the bridge over Autobahn 3 in the direction of Heusenstamm. If you have witnesses, please call the police in Heusenstamm on 06104 6908-0.
4. 24-year-old alleged victim of a sexual offense – criminal police are looking for an important witness
We kindly ask you to heed the press release from the police headquarters in Lower Franconia:
ALZENAU, LKR. ASCHAFFENBURG. In connection with a possible sexual offense, the Aschaffenburg criminal police are urgently looking for the driver of a red Renault Clio with Offenbach registration. This dropped the 24-year-old victim in the early morning hours of Thursday at the Alzenau police.
According to current knowledge, a 24-year-old was held in an as yet unknown residential building for a long period of time and was also the victim of a sexual offense here. The exact course of events is still the subject of the criminal investigation. In the early morning hours of Thursday, the woman finally managed to escape from the house.
Immediately after leaving the house, the victim was able to stop the driver of a red Renault Clio with Offenbach registration and get into her vehicle. The still unknown witness finally dropped the 24-year-old off at the police station in Alzenau at around 5:15 a.m. and then drove on straight away.
The further investigations were carried out on site by the Aschaffenburg criminal police. The officials are now hoping for witnesses from the population and in particular for the driver of the car mentioned, since she could provide information about the possible crime scene.
Witnesses are asked to contact the criminal police in Aschaffenburg on Tel. 06021/857-1733.

1. Cable thieves on former barracks: witnesses wanted – Hanau
(lei) The former Underwood barracks on Depotstrasse became the target of cable thieves on Thursday, but the criminals got nothing. Between 4 a.m. and 8 p.m. they tweaked open a chain link fence by the train tracks and entered the premises. Apparently, several empty accommodation buildings were visited there and large quantities of power lines were removed, which were then probably bunkered at various storage locations on the site for transport. However, this was discovered by an employee of the security service, so that no damage was caused. The police in Großauheim are asking for witnesses (06181 9597-0).
