On October 18th, 2024 at around 7:15 p.m. there was a traffic accident on the new market in 17192 Waren, followed by a traffic accident. The 13-year-old German pedestrian was standing on the Neuer Markt in Waren when two cyclists approached her. As she tried to pass them, one of the cyclists hit the victim and injured her. The two cyclists then drove away. The injured party pursued the cyclists to a Netto market in the area. From there she contacted the police through her father, who had meanwhile been informed. A radio patrol car crew from the Waren police station was immediately deployed. This enabled the two cyclists to be identified and checked based on the testimony of the injured parties. The smell of alcohol was detected in the breath of the two cyclists. These resulted in a blood alcohol level of 1.14 for the cyclist who caused the accident, a 35-year-old Romanian, and a blood alcohol level of 1.87 for his 24-year-old Romanian companion. A complaint was filed against the person who caused the accident for endangering road traffic and against his companion for driving while drunk. The victim went to the hospital to be treated for her injuries. She was able to leave after outpatient treatment.
