On November 8th, 2024 at around 4:00 p.m., a traffic accident occurred on Hospitalstrasse in Anklam with significant property damage and personal injury. According to initial findings, the 79-year-old German driver of a Skoda Kodiaq left the premises of the Ameos Klinikum Anklam with the intention of turning right onto Hospitalstrasse. He lost control of the vehicle, presumably due to health problems, broke through a hedge, collided with a parked VW Lupo and then crashed head-on into a house wall. This resulted in total damage of around EUR 25,000. The driver and his 71-year-old passenger were seriously injured and had to be taken to the hospital in Anklam by ambulance. The driver’s license was confiscated and proceedings were initiated for dangerous interference in traffic. Since it was initially assumed that the occupants were trapped in the vehicle, the Anklam volunteer fire department was alerted and came to the scene with 13 emergency services. However, the occupants were able to leave the vehicle independently.
