On November 23rd, 2024, there was a fire in a garbage container in Bergen auf Rügen at around 3:00 a.m. According to the current status of the investigation, previously unknown perpetrators set fire to a garbage container on Ringstrasse. As the fire progressed, it also partially spread to an adjacent company building, which was also damaged. The Bergen Volunteer Fire Department, which was deployed with 10 comrades to fight the fire, was able to quickly bring the fire under control and prevent the fire from spreading. Overall, property damage amounted to around 10,000 euros. The Stralsund Criminal Investigation Service was deployed at the scene of the fire to search for and secure evidence. Further investigations into the suspicion of arson are being carried out by the Bergen criminal police.
