In the traffic accident on Tuesday afternoon between a tram and a Sprinter, just before 1pm, on the Dossenheimer Landstrasse, near Burgstrasse, both the driver of the Sprinter and the tram driver were slightly injured. Both were taken to the clinic for examination.
Heidelberg traffic police resumed further investigations. According to the first results, the Sprinter driver wanted to turn left into Burgstrasse and collided with the next tram heading towards Hans-Thoma-Platz.
The Sprinter is no longer roadworthy and must be towed. The tram has been taken out of service and will be taken to the depot upon completion of the investigation into the accident.
The total damage is estimated at around 15,000 euros.
The route should be open to traffic again by 3:30 pm at the latest.
