Grünsfeld: Large-scale control by the police and customs on Autobahn 81
On Wednesday, May 25, 2022, a joint large-scale inspection by the police and customs took place at the Ob der Tauber Ost rest area on the A81 motorway in the direction of Würzburg. With the support of THW, 17 customs officers and 49 police officers were on duty from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. The aim of the inspection was to monitor commercial goods traffic and the fitness of the drivers to drive on the road. For this purpose, customs was used with an X-ray machine for motor vehicles and an X-ray machine for baggage. When checking 220 vehicles, the officials found a total of 133 violations. With 48 cases, violations of social regulations, such as disregarding driving and rest times, were the most common. Six drivers face charges of driving under the influence. There were also eight vehicles that were not allowed to continue and three people who were wanted with an arrest warrant. A total of around 10,000 euros was collected as security.
