An internationally wanted criminal was brought before a magistrate at the Darmstadt district court on Wednesday (15 September) by investigators at the police headquarters in southern Hesse. There was an international arrest warrant against the 32-year-old criminal, issued in 2021 after intense investigation by the Darmstadt District Court.
The man was wanted by the German authorities for a series of pickpocketing offenses, which he allegedly committed as a collaborator on a commercial basis and in a gang.
As part of an in-depth investigation, the investigators obtained information that the requested person should have been abroad. In close collaboration with foreign authorities, the 32-year-old was finally spotted in Italy, arrested and transferred to Frankfurt am Main. There, investigators from southern Hesse received him.
The magistrate immediately sent the arrested man to jail, who now faces several years in prison.
