Pokémon Sword / Shield will welcome a fabulous new Pokémon in his Pokédex : Zarude. This “Naughty Monkey” Pokémon will be available soon, but the information already published allows us to consider its strategic use, until we can capture it.
Zarude, a fabulous ugly monkey
Zarude is a Fabulous Pokémon, that is to say a Pokémon available only by an event or a game derived from Pokémon and which is not considered necessary to complete the Pokémon of a region of a game. Pokémon like Deoxys, Jirachi or Mew or Celebi are considered Fabulous Pokémon. At the time of writing, we do not know how it will be possible to get the Fabulous Zarude Pokémon but it will likely be available for a limited time in Pokémon Sword / Shield on Switch like most Special Pokémon Game.

Zarude’s Type, Talent and Strategic Characteristics
Zarude is a Dark and Plant type “Naughty Monkey” Pokémon, a rare rare type, but not new: Nuzleaf and its evolution Shiftry are Dark / Plant like Zarude. Cacturne is also a Dark / Plant type Pokémon, but it is not available in the Galar Pokédex.
This double type Darkness / Plant makes it weak extremely vulnerable to insect attacks (damage multiplied by 4) and vulnerable to Combat, Theft, Poison, Fire, Ice and Fairy attacks (damage multiplied by 2). On the other hand, it is immune to Psy attacks (0 damage) and resistant to Ground, Specter, Water, Plant, Electrik and Darkness attacks (damage divided by 2). Its Dark type attacks will be particularly effective on Psychic and Specter Pokémon and its Plant type attacks particularly effective on Water, Rock and Ground Pokémon..
Zarude’s talent is Guard Sheet, a talent that appeared with the 4th generation of Pokémon games that allows it to avoid any change in status (poison, burn, paralysis, sleep or frost) if the climate is sunny. This talent is a way for him to limit the breakage against the Fire, Ice and Poison Pokémon, whose attacks are super effective on it but which cannot hinder it hard during a sunny fight.

Zarude’s attacks are not yet known but he seems to have mastered the powerful Mega-Whip plant attack according to the trailer announcing his discovery. The full list of his attacks will be available soon.
Capture Zarude
Find out soon how to capture Zarude. Will it be available in Wildlands ? Should we face it in Dynamax Raids ? Will he join the list of Mystery Gifts ? At the time of writing, capture Zarude in Sword / Shield Pokémon is not yet possible and it is not known how the trainers will be able to obtain it.
