Last week The Pokémon Company not so effusively announced the new installments of its main series, Pokémon Scarlet & Violet. These games will mark a return to the main formula of the series, but many players are not happy with the return to the “old days”.
The presentation trailer for Pokémon Scarlet & Violet it does not reveal much about its gameplay; however, he makes it clear that he will continue the series where Pokémon Sword & Shield they left it in terms of game mechanics.
As we mentioned, although the new games will take a big step in the evolution of the main formula (by offering an open world for the first time), the essence of the traditional games in the series will be preserved, which includes the mechanics of fighting and weakening Pokemon before you can capture them. This is not only suggested by the trailer, but it is something that has already been confirmed on the official page of the games.

Fans are concerned about the gameplay of Pokémon Scarlet & Violet
The players already realized it and many are not so happy with the return to these old mechanics. While it is something that will not stop them from buying the new games, it is something that put many off.
Some believe that the battles will bring with them the usual transition that occurs when the player enters a battle with a Pokémon.
Others mention that they have no problem with the need to fight Pokémon first before they can be caught, but ask that the transition that is created when going from the world in free exploration to the confrontation be removed.
In case you missed it: Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Apparently they will suffer the same controversy that afflicted Pokémon Sword & Shield.
Looks like no battle-free catching in Scarlet and Violet. Lame!

I am REALLY hoping we don’t go back to the old way of catching in Scarlet and Violet

The main line of games Pokémon are of the RPG genre, since its debut with Pokémon Red & Greenthe main franchise always followed the RPG guidelines and with each installment this has been respected with the exception of Pokémon Let’s Go, Pikachu! & Let’s Go, Eevee! and precisely Pokémon Legends: Arceus.
Stripping the battle element for capture would remove much of the rationale that makes Pokémon a JRPG; however, many players after playing Pokémon Legends: Arceusmention that they would not like to go back to the “old days” of traditional games of Pokémonbut would like some mechanics to be adopted, such as quick catch and dodge attacks.
Please let Scarlet and Violet have Arceus’ catching options and lack of battle transitions. That’s all I ask

Somehow I doubt Scarlet and Violet will have out-of-battle catching and the Pokémon attacking you. Mostly because those kids do not look like they could dodge roll.

Will Game Freak make changes to old mechanics in the main series of Pokémon?
Sales of the mainline games show that Game Freak is in no need to change the essence of the original Pokémon formula for the mainline games. Just look at the sales of the latest iterations of the franchise, Pokémon Sword & Shieldwhich have already become the best-selling games on the Nintendo Switch and in the series.
Just as The Pokémon Company has kept the game mechanics of Pokémon GO away from its main series (or only use them in spin-off), it is very likely that it will do the same with Pokémon Legends: Arceus and Pokémon Scarlet & Violetand later titles.
Do you think Game Freak will one day do away with the traditional game mechanics? Pokémon for its evolution? Would you like the gameplay of Pokémon Legends: Arceus would become the norm of the series? Tell us in the comments.
Pokémon Scarlet & Violet they are in development for Nintendo Switch and are expected to debut before the end of 2022. You can find more news related to them by visiting this page.
