Pokemon Now it’s up to you to choose
EIt’s a shame that I am going to write an article about a poll about which is the best generation of starting Pokemon … knowing that the initial one is going to win. Throughout these 25 years there have been 8 generations of Pokemon, with 898 pets to capture. An outrage, wow.
Of course, each of the Video games always started with 3 Pokemon, called initials. Plant, Water, Fire, all of them nullified / outdone each other. The perfect circle.
I belong to the generation that made its first decisions in front of a gray ‘fat’ GameBoy, learning to be an adult trying to choose between Bulbasaur, Squirtle y Charmander. Time has passed and these originals have been added 7 trios of initials. Let’s survey, come on. What has been the best generation of early Pokemon in history? Before launching it … I’m afraid that I already intuit what the result will be.
Charmander, Bulbasaur y Squirtle. The possibility of having Charizard, Venusaur or Blastoise in their last evolutions made the choice more difficult than ever. Charmander was the coolest, Squirtle made sense when facing the first Rock-type gym … and Bulbasaur … well … Did anyone really fuck Bulbasaur? It is difficult that this generation does not win the poll for the best starting Pokemon and it would also win the poll for things I loved from my childhood. Vote.
Chikorita, Cyndaquil and Totodile They were a great second round to the hard-to-beat of the first generation. They were cool and useful from the get-go. Cyndaquil was a brown beast capable of making you spend much of the game with just him on the team – and his evolutions, of course. Totodile ended up being an improved Squirtle. Chikorita was useless. That is the summary.
Treecko, Torchic y Mudkip. Seeing the disadvantages that they had put to the previous initials Plant (Bulbasaur and Chikorita were somewhat behind their peers), the best initial of the third generation ended up being Treecko, although be careful with Mudkip and Torchic -especially, Blaziken- was not at all evil. Sceptile was well worth playing for once and starting your adventure with the Plant Pokemon.
Turtwig, Chimchar y Piplup. Personally, Piplup was one of those Pokemon referred to as ‘monkeys’ and that made you feel somewhat attached to him. For his image at least, poor about the battle is not that he stood out too much. Chimchar’s second evolution, Infernape, deserved that you always start with the fire starter. Wow, like almost always. A beastly fire monkey, always on my team.
Snivy, Tepig and Oshawott. With Torchic and Chimchar they did well mixing fire and fighting, but already a third consecutive generation with that guy got tired, he smelled. Tepig must be one of the worst fire starters, as is Snivy from Planta and one Oshawott. Does anyone remember this generation?
Chespin, Fennekin and Froakie. One of the clear examples that Pokemon is not only the first-and second-generation, as claimed by the purelets. Mr. Pokemon Froakie appeared in Generation 6 to show that the franchise could continue to make good initials and here we have it. As a starter … meh, but his second Greninja evolution, water-sinister, is tops. The other two Pokemon no one remembers them.
Rowlet, Litten y Popplio. Another new bet for visuals rather than combat. Three Pokemon that were very cool in their design but that in what really mattered they lagged far behind. Far behind. Popplio may be one of the worst initials ever. Let’s admit that Rowlet was cool with his ghost type and his second evolution, Decidueye, was the best of his generation. Litten … good … This generation wasn’t that bad either, but the thing about Popplio … cloth.
Grookey, Scorbunny and Sobble. The last will be the first! Well, or not. That will be decided by you, who are the ones who vote. The evolution of Scorbunny in Cinderace and its ability to turn attacks into effective means that we must consider this last generation in which, however, none had just triumphed excessively. Nor is it that it is the worst generation. Neither fu nor fa, you know …
