Pokemon Is Players in Tokyo, Japan will have plenty of reasons to descend on the Asakusa district on November 25 for a special event featuring rare spawns and decorations adorning the famous Tokyo Shinto Shrine area.
The event will focus on the Route feature, with eight in-person routes planned between November 25 and December 10 that will cover most of the Asakusa district, from the area’s world-famous shrine to the Skytree Tower. Various Pokémon-themed illustrations will also appear in the Ukiyo-e-inspired format around Asakusa to help guide players.
There will also be in-person rewards for players who complete any of the eight official routes to take home a small souvenir for their troubles while supplies last. It’s a good thing it’s not a Pokémon card; However, otherwise we could have seen some of the problems at the Van Gogh Museum throughout the month of September come back to haunt us.
During the event, Pokemon Is Players will receive a host of rare spawns, including the legendary Pokémon Moltres, Articuno, Zapdos, Tornadus, and Thundurus, which will appear in the Asakusa area as additional spawns in addition to the spawns scheduled for November.
Honestly, even some of the normal Pokémon like Hisuian Growlithe, Darumaka, and Dragonite really stand out as ones I’d love to see casually in the wild, especially if there’s a chance of encountering them as Shiny Pokémon. However, it looks like there isn’t a bright push this time around like we see at the popular Pokémon Go Fests every summer.
Hopefully these types of events will spread to other cities in the future, although it seems like these special events seem to be limited to a Japan-only audience so far. Damn lucky ones.
