LCoaches around the world have been enjoying Pokémon
GO for five years, and we’re celebrating this milestone with an event that brings special Pokémon encounters, tons of Pokémon first companions, and some great bonuses. You can join the celebration from Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at 10 am through Thursday, July 15, 2021 at 8 pm in your local time!
During the event, Pikachu Flight will appear in the wild with a balloon in the shape of 5. This famous Pokémon is fully prepared for the party! Darumaka will also appear, and if you’re lucky you might come across a Shiny Darumaka. Pikachu Flight and Darumaka will also make their way to Tier 1 raids along with Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie.

It’s hard to celebrate a Pokémon milestone without acknowledging the Pokémon that often accompany Trainers at the start of their journeys. This anniversary event will feature appearances from all of the first fellow Pokémon that were originally discovered in the regions currently represented in Pokémon GO. Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile, Treecko, Torchic, Mudkip, Turtwig, Chimchar, Piplup, Snivy, Tepig, Oshawott, Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie will appear in reward encounters upon completion of field research. And not only that, but the first Pokémon companions will also be attracted by the active Bait Modules this time, and you may even meet some in the wild.
You can also meet fellow Pokémon first by completing certain field research tasks. Try to capture them all to complete the collection challenge of this event! If you succeed, you will win an encounter with Flying Pikachu that will carry a balloon in the shape of 5 and a huge amount of Poké Balls.
It is so exciting to celebrate the five years of Pokémon GO that even the sky is burning! The fireworks celebration we saw last year at the Pokémon GO Festival is back, so keep an eye on the map for some holiday fun. And, while looking at the sky, be sure to check out the new real-time sky mechanics. This functionality, which has already been announced previously, will be available to everyone for this anniversary, along with additional rankings from the Pokédex.
And there’s even more awesome stuff for this anniversary event! All Bait Modules will last a full hour, including Glacial, Magnetic, Mossy and Rainy Bait Modules. It will also increase the Bag’s storage limit by 500 at the start of the event. If you need more storage before the celebration begins, be sure to pick up an upgrade from the store.
And, if it turns out that you missed the special investigation Startup Investigation at last year’s anniversary celebration, you’re in luck, because it’s back! Complete this special investigation to earn tons of Stardust and XP rewards, as well as exciting Pokémon encounters. You will only be able to claim this Special Research during the event, so don’t pass up the opportunity!
Fifth anniversary gift stickers will also be available at PokéStops, on gifts and in the store, so you can share the joy of the anniversary with your friends.
