Update from 05/16/2023:All good things come in threes – In the third hour of May 2023’s spotlight, the Grass-type Pokémon Knofensa is waiting for you today. The first generation monster can also be caught in its shiny form.

Is the limelight worth it? The third spotlight is interesting mainly due to the relatively high rarity of Shiny Knofensa. You will receive an additional Candy bonus once you send captured Knofensas. If you want to level up your Ultrigaria, the candies can of course do you a great service, but all other players can safely skip the evening.

Original message: San Francisco – It’s May in Pokémon GO and so there are a lot of events waiting for the trainers again. Spotlight hours are back, too, bringing you five Pokémon, each with unique bonuses. As usual, these events will take place every Tuesday and will focus on a special Pokémon. In our overview you can see which Pokémon will be there in May 2023, what bonuses are waiting for you and whether the evening is worth it for you.

Pokémon GO: Spotlight Hours in May 2023 – Everything you need to know

What is a spotlight hour anyway? Spotlight Hour has been held in Pokémon GO for several years. A special Pokémon always comes into focus and appears everywhere in the wild for a full hour. More than 95% of the spawns then consist of the event Pokémon. The spawns are also generally increased and you easily have the chance to catch 200-300 Pokémon in an hour.

When is the limelight hour? The event takes place every Tuesday at 6pm local time. As the name suggests, you will then have an hour to take advantage of the bonuses. At 7 p.m. it’s all over and the spawns are back to normal.

• May 2nd: Alolan Gem and Double Catch EXP
• May 9th: Ponyta and Double Catch Candy
• May 16: Knofensa with candy bonus for trading
• May 23: Pionskora with double XP for evolving Pokémon
• May 30: Hounduster with double Stardust

Pokémon GO: Spotlight Hour on May 23rd with Pionskora – Endless Stardust

This is in the limelight hour: Pionskora is a fourth-generation Poisonous and Bug-type Pokémon. It evolves into Piondragi. Among the Pokémon in May, Pionskora is probably the Pokémon next to Knofensa whose Shiny appears the least frequently. So if you haven’t got the Shiny yet, this is your best chance to catch the Pokémon after all.

Pokémon GO: May 30th Spotlight Hour with Hunduster – Double Stardust

This is in the limelight hour: At the center of the final Hour of the Spotlight in May 2023 is the Pokémon Hound. The second-generation Pokemon is Dark and Fire-type, but both the monster and its Shiny form are not particularly rare, having appeared in a number of Halloween events.

Is the limelight worth it? The last limelight hour at the end of the month is another small highlight with its bonus. The double stardust bonus is an ideal window of time to replenish your supplies and grind down the valuable resource. If you use a Star Piece, you will also receive an additional 50% more Stardust for about 30 minutes during the Spotlight Hour. So you should definitely not miss the last limelight hour in May.
