Pokémon Go lets players grill from home during a virus outbreak

That is what developer Niantic promises his blog. It is one of several measures to make the game more playable during the lockdowns in many countries.

“We’re going to adjust our social in-game systems so that players can meet up without going out,” said the developer. “Soon you can have raid fights with friends from your own home.”

Walk in circles

The in-game pedometer function is also adjusted differently so that movements in the house are registered. This allows players to run in circles indoors to hatch a Pokémon egg, for example.

Plus, Niantic is looking at new ways to explore the virtual game world without leaving your home. It is not yet known exactly how this should work.

1 coin

Niantic has been selling bundles of items for one since last week symbolic price of 1 virtual coin, so players no longer have to go outside to collect digital items. The new measures are more drastic: the game is modified on a fundamental level to make it playable from home.

The developer does not say when the adjustments are made exactly. That will probably happen in the coming days.
