Pokémon GO celebrates in 2021 its fifth anniversary, five years capturing millions of Pokémon around the world from our iOS and Android phones through the use of the Poké Ball. These famous balls are one of the most representative symbols of the saga, a contraption thought and designed to capture, to stock and transport Pokémon.
The Trainers need them for their adventures both in the main saga and in the game here protagonist: without Poké Ball you cannot catch Pokémon. We do not recommend, under any circumstances, throw them away; They can always save you from a hurry if you run out of Super Ball or Ultra Ball, the improved versions of the Poké Ball, as we explain at the end of this article.
Today we explain how to get free Poké Balls in Pokémon GO with all available methods.

[Actualizado 2021]
Spin Photodisks at PokéStops
It is the simplest method and the one we can do from the beginning of the adventure, when we are given our first 50 Poké Balls. Reaching level 40 (the previous ceiling; currently the maximum is level 50) is difficult, but that level will determine what type of Poké Ball we can find in the PokéStop. In any case, if you see one, turn its Photodisk: you will get very useful items on your adventure, including Poké Ball. Depending on the space of your bag you can store more or less.
Level up
Basic rule. When you level up you get Poké Ball, among other rewards that vary depending on the level you are at. Between level 2 and level 11, the rewards will have, apart from Potions, Revive, Incense or Incubators, Poké Bal (between 10 and 20). When you reach level 12, the rewards for leveling up will have the Super Ball as chosen until level 19. From level 20 and up to level 40, the chosen one will be the Ultra Ball, which is the best of the three. Currently it is also the Poké Ball of choice for rewards for levels 41-50.
Send and receive gifts from your friends
Staying in touch with your friends is extremely important in Pokémon GO. Not only because reaching the maximum degree of friendship (90 days) gives us 100,000 Experience Points (double if you use a Lucky Egg), but because you will receive up to 96% discount when exchanging Pokémon with that person and the Stardust cost; Not to mention increasing the damage if you participate in raids together. It is also important for Get items by sending and receiving Gifts from friends. Each day you can open 30 Gifts from friends, while the maximum number of gifts you can send each day is 100.

Since last June 2020 we will be able to attach a Sticker to these Gifts. However, What objects do we receive from gifts? They are always packages of three objects, where depending on how lucky we are, we will more likely receive one or the other. For example, 7 km Eggs appear 66.66% of the time; while Pride Rock only touches us 0.07% of the time.
- 3 Poké Ball: 11.11%
- 2 Super Ball: 11.11%
- 1 Ultra Ball: 11.11%
Adventure Sync: Weekly Rewards
The Adventure synchro is one of the most interesting and useful functions of Pokémon GO: recording the distances traveled even if you have the game in the background. Eye, not closed, but in the background. Depending on the kilometers traveled each week you will receive more or less rewards; it all depends on the weekly goals completed. This function is also interesting for opening Eggs, as it counts the kilometers traveled relative to Eggs in the Incubator. These are the rewards that you will receive on Monday of each week at 09:00 local time depending on how much you have walked.
- If you walk 5 km a week: 20 Poké Ball.
- If you walk 25 km a week: 20 Poké Balls, 10 Super Balls, 4000 Stardust (plus this optional pack: 3 Rare Candy, 3 Silver Pineapple Berry, 1 Egg of 5 km).
- If you walk 50 km a week: 20 Poké Balls, 10 Super Balls, 5 Ultra Balls, 11000 Stardust (plus one of the following optional packs: 3 Rare Candy, 3 Silver Pinia Berry, 1 5 km Egg; or 5 Rare Candy, 5 Silver Pinia Berry, 1 Egg of 5 km and 1 Egg of 10 km).
- If you walk 100 km a week: 20 Poké Balls, 10 Super Balls, 5 Ultra Balls, 21000 Stardust (plus one of the following optional packs: 3 Rare Candy, 3 Silver Pinia Berry, 1 5 km Egg; or 5 Rare Candy, 5 Silver Pinia Berry, 1 Egg of 5 km and 1 Egg of 10 km).

Complete field research missions and tasks
This point is important and variable, since depending on the research tasks you have undertaken (there are special, temporary, masterful, compulsory…) you will receive some rewards or others. Generally, and except for surprise, in all research tasks there are phases where the reward is Poké Ball; either standard Poké Ball, Super Ball or Ultra Ball. It is highly recommended to complete all the missions you can to get Stardust, Experience Points, Poké Ball, encounters with specific Pokémon, rare evolutionary items, bait modules …

How many types of Poké Ball are there? Which is better?
There are currently four types of Poké Ball in Pokémon GO: Poké Ball, Super Ball, Ultra Ball, and Honor Ball. Next, we explain how to get each one and what its main characteristics are.
Poké Ball: the regular ones, the easiest to obtain and the only ones that can be bought with money in the Store. They are the most common and, therefore, the ones with a lower catch ratio. When creating a Pokémon GO account we receive fifty. It is what we receive in the rewards for going up from level 2 to level 11. Capture ratio of x1.0.
–
–
Super Ball– An improved version of Poké Balls. They are blue in color and have a 50% improvement in the capture rate compared to the previous ones (x1.5). They are the ones we unlock once we reach level 12; from there, we will find them by turning Photodisks in the PokéStops. They are the main reward when going from level 12 to level 19.
–
–
Ultra Ball: the best in the game (unless the Master Ball is activated in the future). They are recognized by their black and yellow color; They are 100% more effective than Poké Balls (x2.0) and are unlocked upon reaching level 20 in Pokémon GO. From there, we receive them as rewards when we go from level 20 to level 40; added to being one of the most attractive rewards in field missions.
–
–
Honor Ball– A special type of Pokémon that can only be used in Pokémon GO Raids; its capture rate is identical to that of Poké Balls. This is the variable reward for completing a raid. Its number of uses is limited in combat, it all depends on the number of Trainers participating in the raid, their Equipment and the contribution they have made to the raid. Those that remain at the end of the fight will disappear. They are also the ones we use in confrontations to capture a dark Pokémon.
